Default Antenna for Car Kit - WHAT IS THIS?!?!

Im in the process of doing a nokia car kit install on my 98.5 avant, and in the cd changer compartment, along with the DB25, i found another cable - a coax with an antenna plug. what is this for? did audi wire the car radio antenna for a cell phone integration? i can't figure what it is for, and it being zip-tied to the DB25 made me assume its for a carkit.

anyone have an idea? can i wire my nokia carkit car kit to this antenna plug for increased reception? i have not seen any reference to this plug in any tech articles on phone integration.

------------------------------------------------

also, if anyone knows, im considering resoldering my nokia mike where my current OEM mike is (in the a-pillar) - does this work? i read this tech article which seems to say it does?
Sean's Nokia tech article

but others like this have a more difficult work around
Ed's Nokia tech article

id like to simply resolder the mike in my a-pillar rather than make a complex circuit to get around this issue? any help would be great, as i plan to finsish my install tomorrow...thx.

Default I heard the Audi mic sucks... i just extended the one i got from the Nokia kit and put it next..

to my rear view mirror.. For the atenna it might be to the kit and not an antenna. like you'll plug an atenna into to it so that the stock Motorola kit would work... But I'm not sure.

Default Audi Mic worked fine for me

You have to use Ed's circuit though.

Default ARE YOU SURE? that you have to use the circuit ed made?

i was under the assumption that was to use the integrated OEM mic, but sean's article (url in orig post) said he simply de-soldered the OEM mic and soldered on the mike that came with his Nokia car kit.

that circuit is a little intimidating. im decent at electrical work, but ive never made a pc board...

damn, i wish i knew, it could save a lof of hassle.

thanks for the help so far, ill check in later and hope theres more help...

Default Re: ARE YOU SURE? that you have to use the circuit ed made?

No,did not use the circuit ed made. However,I went the route of cutting & splicing (instead of soldering) the connections and the phone works flawlessly. The only thing left for me to do is to find a decent position for mounting the phone. I use the Audi Microphone in the A pillar and I hear the party on the other end through the driver's door speaker. You dont have to make a PC board. Email me and I'll point you to another write up by someone who used the splicing method in conjunction with Ed's article, that was my inspiration.

Default to clarify:

this is the circuit I'm referring to, its very simple:

One of Ed's articles on Carkits

Default That is what I ended up doing too...

and it worked great - i re-soldered the mic into the acolumn, but had to remove the oem mic as well as a small pc board (which i assume is the reason for eds circuit, to counter-act this oem circuit). install wasnt bad at all...
