Anxiously wating for my APR Chip in NoVa area...feedback please!!
I'm anxiously waiting for my APR 1.0 bar chip as part of the group buy and in the meantime would love to hear the experiences of those who have chipped their A4 1.8T's...especially those with a '97 like mine.
What was your first reaction after installing your chip and drving your A4?
Does the engine run smoother and did you notice a boost in off-the-line acceleration?
Increase your odds of getting a speeding ticket?
Any problems with dealers with service/warranty issues? (especially curious about NoVa/DC owners experience with local dealers who chipped their A4)
If i'm missing anything, please feel free to let me know...I'd like to know what I can look forward to!
Thanks!

Chip impressions...
When first getting the chip installed, it feels like your car lost a ton of weight. The acceleration is GREATLY improved (as would be expected by the huge HP/torque gains). The turbo lags SEEMS greater, but that's only because it's so much more noticable when it does kick in. Your odds of getting a speeding ticket rely on YOU . However, if what you're asking is "will the chip make me want to speed?", the answer is: "yes".
Have fun, and watch out for the law!

Reaction after installing chip and driving car everytime after that: WOW!
Engine runs same, no drop in MPG, fun begins around 3000RMP. If I want off the line acceleration, I wind it up to about 3K before releasing clutch. (how you do it and the clutch damage you encounter is up to you :-) )
Tickets depend on lots of factors other than getting a chip. The chip just gets you to the higer speeds quicker.
Service guys at dealership were excited about it. No problems with service. (White Allen Audi, Dayton OH)
Congratulations on the chip. You WILL enjoy it.

Hoffman Audi in East hartford..(more)
When I told them it was chipped, the guy said "we don't care, that's the first thing most people do." Then, the guy who brought the car around for me said "This isn't stock, is it?", I said "no.", he said "you can tell right away. it's amazing!"

Re: feedback
A got my 00 1.8 chipped two weeks ago at Curry's tech-day. Much noticable difference...speeding is now a way of life. Going 90+ on Rt.50 (Annapolis)is may daily driving habit.
Enjoy
