Default Anyone have any info on VW Golf with palm pilot build in?

I recall seeing the writeup on the e-generation Golf, or whatever it was called. The car came with a palm build in from the factory. I think it provided access to the web, as well as to some functions of the car (heat air, radio - I can not recall for sure).

I'd like to explore the option of installing something like that in A4, so if anyone has any info on that car, I'd really appreciate it. I also recall reading that someone was attempting to modify VagTool to work on a Palm Pilot. If any one knows anything about that project, I'd like some info as well.

Thanks.

Yikes.. that's scary. Palms are hard to use, more so when you have to pay attention to the road.

I do not know, I find them pretty easy to use. All you need is a good GUI and thats it.

Default Yeah, but the touchscreen's a serious PITA to use..

If you could somehow retrofit one with a larger/more sensative screen then you'd be set.. I guess that would also be kind of defying the purpose of using a Palm in the first place though.

Default I personally do not own one, but a few of my friends do, so I have used them.

I did not notice the screen being hard to use at all, and I was using my fingers instead of the pen. Either way, I am not planning on using the touch screen all that much. I am farely sure that I can program the buttons to do all that I need, so it should be as easy to use as an oem stereo.

I care least about using it to access the web, which is where to touch screen is helpfull. All I want, is an ability to use VAG, use GPS, play mp3's and may be video files. I was leaning towards purchasing a TFT screen and then wiring up a computer, but I do not like having to reboot the system every time I shut off the car, so if I can get the PALM to do what I need, then that may be the way to go.

Default the possibility of porting vagcom to a pocketPC product is much more likely then palm...

I have been toying with the idea of mounting my new iPaq in my A4 with a GPS antenna so I can do mapping. If somone really ported vagcom to pocketPC that would also be very cool.
