That might have been me, Steve. I haven't really tried much since we discussed this, but I was not able to find the stock horns on my 99.5. And the Audi service places aren't of much help, either. Current bet is that they're in behind the plastic wheel well covers on the driver's side --- which is about where they sound like they might be.
My Hellas await some time to go probing inside the wheel well and the bumper cover.
If anyone's done this on a 99.5, please pass the gouge!

Not sure...
and they say I'm opinonated. It's not like they are quiet, or that the A4's are loud. The tone is more of a gronky dissonance. I was hoping for a wall of sound due to their size. They are better than stock, $50 better? Probably better spent on BFG KDW/KD tires just to avoid the problem.
