Anyone have problems stuffing 5 1/4" or 6.5" components into the doors or rear deck?
#3
I have focal 165Ks in the rear doors
They do not fit with mbq adapters. I had to custom mount them after hacking some of the plastic away from the back of the door panels and angle them. Reinforced and sealed with epoxy to prevent sound leakage.
I have components but are not necessary imo. Coaxials are fine. The rears are attenuated properly and the staging is still front biased with just the right amount of fill.
you should have no problem with 6.5in in the rear deck, i left mine open so the deck can vent my 12in sub. plus i personally didn't like the reflected sound from the rear windshield . the rear door speakers added the necessary "fill" without moving the front stage any higher than what i wanted.
All in all i like how my system sounds now. my suggestion is to dynamat atleast the front doors. that made a difference in the mid bass of the 5 1/4s
if you can get 6.5in in the front, even better.
