Default I've had both and I too thought the VBL chip was great...until I replaced it the GIAC...

Can't argue with the price/performance of the G.S./Neuspeed chip. I don't think anyone else is even coming close to their $200.00 price-point. But if you've got the additional $200.00 (for the GIAC) my recommendation would be to spend it. IMO it's worth every additional penny. The Turbo5 intake is a nice addition, to either chip. I had a 99.5 1.8Q (non-dbw) that at first had the VBL chip in it and then the GIAC, so my experiences are based on two different chips in the same car. Just my $.02, hope it helps

Default I think the GIAC is a bit faster too but in my book if it's two times more $, it should be 2X better

Plus, from what I understand the Neuspeed P-chip for DBW cars makes 200 hp and 245 lb/ft at 1.1 bar. Cost is $300.

Default DBW 1.1 bar VBL doesn't make 200hp/245ft.lb, more like 180hp/200ft.lb. according to thier salesmen.

You may want to call and varify... I don't know the exact figures. They claim that thier chip doesn't 'Push the boost to dangerous limits like the other vendors with higer boost'. They were really pushing this, but this may be just a marketing spin to sell their un-competitive boost with regard to APR, GIAC, etc.

Default If that were true, you would never do any other mods besides the neuspeed chip...

since you will never get the same price/performance gain.

lets say p-chip is $200 for 35hp
$5/hp

GIAC is 400 for 45hp
$9/hp

If you follow the logic that the GIAC isn't worth it since it costs more per hp (not twice as good as the neuspeed) then you could argue that an intake, exhaust, and most other mods aren't worth it either:

Intake- $250 for 10hp (not really but whatever)
$25/hp

exhaust $500-900 for 15hp
33-60/hp

k04 upgrade
$1500 for 40hp
$37.50/hp

Getting the first 35 horses is cheap but after that it gets expensive. THat doesn't mean it isn't worth it. If you have the money, spend it to get more power.

Yeah, but I'm being specific with chips here. Not talking about other mods.
