Default Anyone replaced trip comp. display under warranty?

Called the dealer, said they need 2 hours to "diagnose" the problem; sound reasonable? BTW, the problem is that some of the lines dim out.

Default No diagnosis needed. They need to replace the cluster. TONS of people have needed it here.

Try a search.

Yup - BTDT. The cluster readout fades in the heat.

Yes, many have had the instrument cluster replaced because of that.

Default I've had mine replaced. Just show them the dim lines and they will order you a new one...

... if you're under warranty. The part may be back ordered. Also, once they replace the part, make sure they set the service intervals correctly. Mine were not set properly... I got them to correct that at my last service.

Default Very common. Had it replaced twice on my 99.5 during first 30K miles.

odd that my 01 already with 37K miles never had this problem.

I think I hold the record, six on the wife's avant and once on mine.

Default dose your wife dim her instrument cluster lighting?..

... I'm wondering if there is a correlation between dimming and premature failure.
