If I have the pn and I usually do, I will always hit VW for the savings...
The Audi and VW dealership are next to each other near me. Also VW I can exit to a traffic light, Audi I have to get across a busy street. That alone is reason enough to choose the Vdub dealer.

Yes, but I have to tell them I own a Passat or they won't deal with me.
If I know it's a part that is shared with VW I go there. Even something as simple as the temerature sensor was cheaper as a VW part than Audi.
