apr stage 3 on a a4 1.8 with 75,000 miles... bad idea?

I have nearly 70,000 miles on my 99 stg 3 and I have had no............
engine problems but The transmission is gone. I don't baby the car by any means. I have been meticulous with maintaining the engine, which is critical. I would say go for it, if nothing else you could always build up an engine when that one goes.

51k here 5k stock, 45k chipped 1k stage 3
0 issues, 0 check engine lights, car startes every time. Car started on first try every day if the -10 weather this weekend with the stage 3 on the car. No regrets so far.
One thing to note is that if you have an issues with the engine, don't go with a big turbo until you get them sorted out. A bigger turbo will likely make a sick engine sicker. Otherwise....APR stage 3 or PES T-28 are both great choices for more power and great drivability. You might want to find people near you for test rides and compare the kits out there before you drop the coin.
