ATE versus Mintex Red Box pads
#11
Red Box have less initial bite than the OEM pads, but otherwise are comparable.
contrary to quattrofrog's expereince below...ATE powerdiscs in front and Red Box all around did not fix my wet braking problem.
Cross drilled Zimmerman rotors and Red Box all around has cured it. I recommend this setup for everyday street use.
Oh, and no squealing from the Red Boxes.

Not just when new. The OEM pads were more touchy on initial application and would
grab much more suddenly. The Red box would have a more gradual, smoother feeling. I don't know about comparing actual stopping distances, but I'd say they perform about the same on the street.
On the track, red Box will melt away pretty quickly. I swap out to C-techs for track use.
If you don't have the wet braking issue, that's great. It is a problem that unexplicably, only some people have.

You'll get used to the different feel of the Mintex, but
I guess you'll have to weigh your preference for the OEM's initial grab vs, the reduced dust of the Mintex to decide what is best for you.
You'll lose that OEM grab with most replacement pads. I've used Raybestos and Mintex C-tech and they didn't have the grab. You could search around to see what people experienced with EBC Green, Pagid, etc...
