hi on my audi a4 2000 b5 the fuel pump housing is running loose in the tank was it suppose to be like that.

No it should be fixed or stationary. I had a 1998 A6 that went off the road, hit a rock right under the fuel tank and broke the part that held the fuel pick up to the bottom of the tank. No visual clue on the outside of the fuel tank, no scratches or leaks. But the fuel pick up was then able to float up in the tank and suck air when there was still a half tank of fuel. Had to pull the pump and pick up out of the tank and replace the piece that held it to the bottom of the tank.

hi thanks for that, do you perhaps have pictures so i will know exactly what to do, i also thought of an option of sticking it back to the tank.
