AUDI customer service says "no synthetic oil mixing". No reason why yet
Audi called back today and said that synthetic blends are fine but the dealer could not mix the exact same thing with regular and synthetic oil. Go figure. Still bugging them as to why. I encourage all of you guys to help me on this situation. Give them a call at 1-800-822-2834 ext #3. I know Im probably taking this thing a little too far but Im just looking for a decent explanation by Audi on an otherwise clearcut issue.

Why have a cow over a few $ (more)
Just take in the extra cans of synthetic for a complete synthetic oil change until you are out of warranty, then experiment to your heart's content. Audi has its policy concerning lubricants and you should accept it.
I kept receiving a bill for $0.06 from GTE when I changed phone companies. I tried to reason with them about dropping the charge - I didn't want to waste a 33 cent stamp for a 6 cent bill, and it costs a company a lot more than that to process a payment. I gave up and mailed a check for 6 cents.
It's just not worth wasting your time and energy on a trivial matter.

Why would you want to mix?
Synthetics and Dino's have different properties. If you mix in the Dino oil, you will have two oils that react differently in regards to seal swell rates, engine cleansing, cold flow, boiling point, etc. Even money savings doesn't make sense in this case. If you mix them, you'll have to change more often due to the Dino oil, where you can leave the synthetic in through two services; changing the filter, of course, in between.

Explanation
I really there isn't one. Is just as mixing gas... "what would happen if I mix 85 with 93 octane"?... really nothing, your car will still run and it might not perform as if you were using the best but it will work.
Both oil types do not complement each other. In other words you are not going to get better performance out of combining two kinds of oil, so why bother?

Why should Audi take the risk for what the outcome is of mixing the oils.
Most brands do not recommend mixing. Who knows what additives might do between the different brands. Who has tested it? Who has the ability to test all the variables.

Re: AUDI customer service says "no synthetic oil mixing". No reason why yet
The 8 bucks isn't my point. I just want a reason why. As far as mixing goes, what is in synthetic blend. Its the same thing w/ only about 10% synthetic added. Yes I will go w/ full synthetic from here on out. I just didn't get a good response as to why my request was denied. If I did my own oil changes, who would know anyway. But I just wan't in the mood that day to deal w/ incompetence.
