Audi extends maintenance intervals
From the ''Audi Internet Newsletter" I received today...
"Audi extends maintenance intervals
Purchasers of new Audi models will benefit from extended intervals between scheduled inspections which will now be due every two years (or 30,000 km) for models with spark-ignition engine and every 35,000 or 50,000 km for 6-cylinder and 4-cylinder TDI engines, respectively. This change affects all year-2000 vehicles produced after 5 July 1999, with the exception of the Audi Cabriolet. For the Audi TT Coupé and TT Roadster the extension goes into effect at later date. The longer interval will reduce maintenance costs by 30% on average for a service life of four years or 60,000 km. Recent improvements in engine technology and the introduction of longlife motor oils have made this prolongation possible. The low viscosity and greater aging resistance of these new oils not only mean increased engine protection in both long- and short-distance driving, they also mean increased fuel economy. Lower emissions and reduced quantities of old oil for disposal also benefit the environment."
