I dont know how old this video is but this r8 has some crazy mods including a liquid cooled infrasonic pulse generator.

I think you might be missing the point of the car.
It is a road rally car, and from what I gathered reading some other forums that this guy supposedly posts on, the reason why he's doing this is to beat the record of 32hrs and 7mins from new york to California. This guy just has the resources and money to do it. I say good for him, im sure anyone of you would do the same if you felt as passionate to do that one thing. take a look at this video and see how intense the planning was for the new record.
