audi reliability? what are my chances of a lemon?
Hi...
i've been shopping around for a car... love the a4 to pieces... but with all of these people having problems, i am reluctant to buy one... is it easy to get a lemon? i know message boards get inflated problem topics, just because it's a good place to inform each other... but if i buy one, the lemon is the last thing i want... as with anybody anyways =)

I heard a rumor that A4 was rated #3 just behind lexus/toyota in the latest CR
If CR says so, it must be true, right? I can't vouch for it though, since I don't have access to the latest auto issue of CR.

You misunderstand the purpose of these forums (more)
The purpose of this forum is to share experiences and information related to the Audi A4. This includes the good ones, as well as the bad ones. Some people on these forums are ecstatic about their new performance chip or sound system setup. Others brag about their first speeding ticket in their chipped A4 (I have no idea why). Still, others wonder why their light washers no longer work and why the shifter has suddenly become so stiff and why they hear rattles in the doors. All Audiworld members share all of their knowledge on the wonderful A4. The A4 is not a lemon or a bad car at all- it is a great car. However, when something does go wrong, people turn to this forum for advice and sometimes it ends up looking like the A4 is the most troubled car on the road. In fact, it is probably one of the least.
Hope this helps and explains.

Given the general quality of auto manufacturing today....
I'd say your chances of getting a lemon are about the same as any other car make give or take a few. It's not like you're buying an 70's american car anymore.
Even Hyundai has a great warranty now.
Don't live life in fear...GO FOR IT!
Read my registry for my experiences...not a perfect car, but I wouldn't trade it for the anything right now. Well, maybe if I had won the Big Game, I would. ;-)<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=161"</a><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/a4registrydl.jpg" BORDER=0></a>
