Audi service manuals on CD ROM - long
Does anyone know what operating system the CD ROM version service manuals run under? My dealer's service dept. isn't very computer literate and told me that I couldn't run the CDs on my PC because they are a Audi "thing" and only Audi service people could use them. That doesn't sound right to me but what do I know.
I saw the CDs in operation at the dealership but wasn't able to determine if they would run on a Windows 95/98 PC. The service dept. obviously only uses their computer for work. They did say that the wireing diagrams are available as a hard copy on paper.
Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

From what I understand....
Service manuals do no exist on CDRROM. Although parts catalogues do... I know I have one. I'm sure I would have been made aware by now if they were made on CDRom. The CD they have is called ETKA (German abbrev. for electronic parts catalogue I believe) I have version 5, the UK version. While still in english, most of the stuff is for RHD cars so all the part #s don't exactly correspond to our US version. But MOST do. It is handy because it shows breakdowns, part #s and you can print from it. Please don't ask me to make more because I don't have a CD burner and really don't have access to one yet. Now if someone out there wants to give me so I can burn CDs and keep it afterwards, I'd entertain that idea. It is nice and handy, and runs on Win9x. You need a screen resolution of 1280x1024 to run it though.
