Auto-trans question...
I just replaced my old dying auto-trans that had 127k miles on it (and burnt fluid) with a used unit with 76k on it. The new trans is a BIG improvement over the old one. It shifts smooth as silk through all gears with no sign of slippage.
The strange thing is that the new trans still has ONE problem that is the exact same problem the old trans had. When trying to put it into "passing gear" by stepping on the gas-peddle it doesn't want to downshift. When under acceleration the engine will rev up to high RPMs and will not downshift unless I let off the gas peddle... and then it is a HARD downshift.
Because this problem persists in the EXACT same way in both transmissions, I'm thinking that it could be an electrical issue. Maybe the throttle position sensor/speed sensor or kick down switch? Any ideas?? Thanks.

engine vaccuum leak maybe .. mine shifted real wierd when there was a big one
mine was the hose from turbo to intercooler , it was cracked and it only shifted when it got to like 4 or 5k rpm on any gear.
