Avant owners: How to remove roof rails?

Pull the headliner...
gotta get at it from under the roof. Yes, that means A, B, C, and D pillars have to come out, and all the interior roof accessories (handles, lights, consoles).

yeah it is fun too..
dont know how much different the avant is from the sedan but i had mine out of the car as of saturday..and i did notice the instructions for the avant in my bently

also if and when you remove your sunroof motor make sure the glass is in the closed position ..

well i started when my sunroof would not close more than 80% and dealer wanted $1300 for repairs
