B&M shifter install questions.....
Well, AWE is closed today and B&M themselves is of no help.
1997 A4 1.8TQ with the pushdown shifter. B&M provides 2 different reverse "hooks" for the A4 and S4/A6. Installed as per the directions there is nothing to hold the reverse catch to the shifter. I can see it falling out after a couple shifts, and I'll be without the revers stop. Anyone else install one of these on a pushdown car? Need advice ASAP!
TIA.....

I've installed one in my '98 pushdown.
If the reverse "hooks" you're referring to are Parts D [Front Reverse Pin] & E [Back Reverse Pin], then I suggest you take a look at Step 16. Does your shift pattern tell you to go to Step 22? If so, take a very careful look at Step 24. The diagram shows the orientation of the shift lever, the correct hole and the correct reverse pin [E] and pin alignment. If assembled correctly, you'll need to use a vise or hammer to drive the Back Reverse Pin into the correct hole. There is no way that pin will work itself loose and fall out under normal conditions.
