Default B&M Short Shifter

Does anyone have experience with the B&M short shifter? I am looking at that and UCC, any experienced comments would be helpful.

Default eh...its ok

I had a lot of play in mine initially, so i had to disassemble and bend the fork a little bit closer and do the zip tie mod. I'd probably try the v&s or strat before the b&m though.

Default After installing it I don't see how the other shifters don't have "play" as well

I went straight for the B&M and it wasn't the Snic-snic shift I was some what expecting @ 35% reduction. Rather much like stock, but with a shorter shift, and a bit more effort, and it is in-turn a tighter shift. But from installing it and seeing how the Linkage is the only think that determines where the shifter goes, I don't see how the zip-ties or other shifters could be tighter. There are no gates or anything to tighten up.

That being said I have not tried another, but on the outside they all look the same (more or less) and the link-age is the same, so I dont' see how they can be tighter. So I don't know.

Default i had the b&M... now I have the V&S

the B&M was an improvement over stock but sucks compared the the V&S. Not worth the money at all, they basically designed it so it would be able to be used in several applications and thus compromised quality and feel.

Get the V&S or Strat

Default It's not just the linkage that has play, though

Granted, the linkage probably contributes to most of the play in the shifter system. Although it is the main contributor, that doesn't mean that there aren't ways to significantly reduce it elsewhere. If you try pulling up on your shifter when it is in neutral, does it move a bit? The pivot ball had a lot of play, so tightening the cups down with a zip tie helped immensely. Also, the fork at the bottom of the shifter was fabbed too large for the shifter. There was a decent amount of play there that was amplified further up the shifter. I bent that in a bit and a good chunk of the play went away. I still want to try to replace that linkage parts, but that's going to be a huge pita. Well, this is how I see it - your results may vary.

Default I have play "Left to Right" "Up and Down" when in Neutral with mine.

I am thinking about doing the Zip-Tie MOD, but I have the push-down reverse, so I don't know if I can do the Zip-Tie MOD. I was actually considering replacing the ball/sleeve parts, since I had this slop/play BEFORE installing the B&M.
