Default Bad tie rod?

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/2644/tierod.jpg"></center><p>Does this photo look like the tie rod end is bad?

How easy are they to replace? I replaced my suspension a month or so ago and noticed this.

Sorry for the bad camera phone photo.

Default jack up your car

and ry to move the wheel with your hands sideways. If it is loose, your wheel will move and if it is still good the wheel will stay intact. However, by the looks of your pic, it is toast. Tie rods are dangerous if loose, you might have a chnace that a high sppeds or cornering the wheel might fall off.

The wheel won't fall off, you'll just lose you steering, which could be just as dangerous

Default I stand corrected! I was thinking control arms as well, since taie rods seem to fail around

the same time.

Default yeah its bad.. if the boot is looking like this dirt gets in and eats the rest..

time to replace in the near future. them things brake and you will go somewhere because you cant steer. replace em as soon as possible. 110$ for a set of 2 and some muscle grease.

Default get a degreaser to clean the part of the rod connecting to the

rubber. Sometimes the tie rod isn't loose enough yet, but eventually over time it does.
