Default Question from a semi-non-noob...

I got on the boards after buying my 2000, in Feb '00 or so.

Was there a big uproar about the availability of OEM Xenon headlights in '99? Now that they were finally 'legal' in that cops wouldn't know immediately if xenon lights were OEM or not, it had to have been a hot topic... I know xenon and aftermarket xenon kits have been
thoroughly discussed on these boards for as long as I've been around, but I imagine there was a time when that wasn't so...

Default it wasn't huge... but the complaints and trials and tribulations

were all there... glaring, flashing from other people, etc...

Default hrrm. I figured people would have been all over it...

I mean, with the OEM issuance of xenon, the average cop wouldn't be able to tell if the A4 had them as stock equipment or not.

You still don't see OEM Civics with xenon, so 100% of the ricers out there w/ xenon are running "illegal" lights. Easy to get hassled or ticketed.

Of course, back in 2000, the age demographic of the audi boards was a little more senior/professional... (The demographic has changed significantly as the b5 A4 has become much more widely re-sold, or handed down from parents to children as the car is used. The new car price of the A4 was typically well beyond the means of most of the "young crowd")
