Battery alternator question

Default Battery alternator question
I recently replaced my alternator and batter and when i start the car my voltage light stays on and the meter says 12 volts. When i tap the gas the lights brighten up and the meter goes back up around 14. Is it normal that the light stays on when i start the car until i hit the gas. If not any ideas?

new or re-manufactured alternator? sounds like bad brushes

Re manufactured. is there anyway to test it while its on the car or do i have to take it out.

you may find sears or autozone can test it in the car. this may be free.
