Best commuter car...need opinions
Looking for a good, reliable car, good mileage a must. Something that is a comfortable highway car, doesn't need to be fancy, just get me around while not being an embarrassment to be seen in. 4-Cyl Accord? 4-Cyl Camry? Galant?. I need 4 doors. I'm tired of putting 110 miles a day on my A4. Want to save that car for weekend and spirited drive times
I'm looking at new cars.

I love my new Mazda Protege5
handles better than my audi did - it can be a little rough on the highway, but thats what you get for handleing like that. I would certainly say you should give it a test drive, 4 year 50k warrenty, 97% japanese and fun as heck.

93 Mustangs aren't bad.
Reliable...well, parts are cheap, and it's easy to fix. Embarrassing? What do you consider embarrassing? :-P
Personally, if you don't mind paying insurance on another new car, an Accord is a great way to go. They are reasonably priced (go with the 4 cyl), and resale on them is incredible...especially considering you plan on logging 25K a year on it. They are pretty smooth comfortable cars to boot. I would get one...but I'm too cheap to spend all that money and pay for insurance on it to boot. :-) I'm pretty happy paying $350/yr on insurance on my beater...and if someone totalled it tomorrow, I'd probably get something old, cheap, and disposable to replace it.

Honda, Toyota, Nissan are all good...
I think the Maximas are champs in that dept, but Accord is an excellent car as well. If you totally don't care for sportiness, Toyota is your friend.
