The Best Laid Plans......
Howdy A4 Fans:
My wife--who I always thought was an Audi fan--has just thrown a potential wrench into the A4 acquisition plan by deciding that she likes the Saab 9-5 better because it is roomier. While I have to admit that the 9-5 is a pretty nice car, it obviously does not come with quattro or tip, nor does it have quite the sporting character of the Audi. At any rate, I need some PR ammo to convince my wife that a bigger back seat is not everything. Any suggestions?
On another note, I am being told that if I want to order a car at this point with specific options, I would be looking at a 2000 model. Is this true? It also appears that most external color choices remain the same, but the interior choices have been simplified to ecru, black, or gray (goodbye ambiente, etc ?). Does this sound correct?
Interestingly, I have a Belgian client in town who drives an A6 diesel/manual and thinks the car is more than sufficiently quick. When I mentioned that two of the knocks against the A6 in the U.S.are that it only comes with the tip and the 2.8L gas engine and is therefore perceived to be "slow", he was amazed.
Mitch

Planning is the key...
Tough situation. From what AOA told me, yes it will have to be a 2000 model to get exactly the package you want.
I think the point about the safety of the Quattro system in the wet or snow is important and that the trunk of the A4 is huge.
If she doesn't like that argument, suggest a 2000 model A6 4.2L V8 Quattro. Bigger and roomier than the 9-5, far more power (300HP) and the improved safety of a Quattro.
