Bilstein sport damper details, spring perch question (BWW)
Just got this set of Bilstein Sports from Jack at ECS tuning. They'll be going on the 98.5 A4 1.8tqms. I'll be using my Audi Sport Suspension springs on these dampers.
Turns out they sent me one Standard Bilstein and one 'Neuspeed' Bilstein rear shock. Thought I'd show you the difference. I'll be leaving these at the lowest 'stock' setting. Anyone with this setup think I should run the rear perches any higher than the way they are shown here?
All four:

i have these shocks with the eurosport springs.....
if my math is right with thr sports springs you should have a rear wheel well height of 25.5" with the shocks on the stock perche. if you put the fronts one perche dowwn you will have a wheel well height of 25.5 in the front too.

that would raise your rear 0.4" more or less...
your call. i made mine flat,so to speak, by raising the rear 1 notch. or take the fronts to a machine shop and have them put a grove on them. it's not that hard!

Nice.
You are going to exchange one of those rear shocks for a proper matching pair I hope.
The M2 vs M3 indicates a difference in shock that could be more than simply the presence of the perch.

Somewhat depends on the springs.

I have the same struts and initially had them paired with Eibach Prokits set at the lowest setting and the car was too low but level height all four corners. I changed over to Hyperco 450/500 springs and with the same perch settings the front rose over an inch and the rear rose by only 1/2 inch. So my car has a reverse rake. I have been too lazy/cheap to pay the installer another $200 to disassemble the suspension to raise the perches.
You can kinda see the uneven rake in this pic.

a little side note on the H-sports arb's....
i have my front shocks on the stock perche with my rears one perche up from stock with eibach prokit springs. my wheel well height is 25.5" both front and rear. my front valance is at a truck stop in PA. so now i find the zirc fittings on the front bar chassis mounts are the lowest points on my car! to the point the left one rubs on the guide bar of my local auto car wash. think i'm going to raise the front one notch in the spring.
