Default Body Kits - Fiberglass or Plastic?

Any problem with fiberglass body kits? Or should you always go for plastic if you can?

Pros? Cons?

Thanks,
Cush

Default Fibreglass is fine, because it's easily repaired. Being so close to the road, you're gonna need ....

to repair it often...

But, generally speaking, the plastic componenets tend to be of higher quality.

Default Plastic will bend without breaking, fiberglass will shatter on impact

My plastic side skirts and front bumper are fine dispite years of use, my rear valance, which is the only part made of fiberglass, has cracks all over it from rock hits and curb damage.

Default I might do FG skirts, but I would never do a FG bumper.

I have had quite a few hits with the Rieger on the Turnpike etc... from road debree and it's flexed not broken like FG would. Rieger=ABS Purem pieces are even better, but more $$$$.

In the FAQ is this little bit of info.....

Default The RSR bumper is actually made of urethane instead of ABS plastic, making it even more flexible and

less likely to crack. This was a major reason I decided to go with the RSR vs. the Rieger bumper.

Default If you saw what hit my bumper about 3 weeks ago you would not worry about the Rieger:)

It flexed enough to not even have a crack in the paint. I got nailed by a chunck of 2X4 on the PA TurnPike that was flying in the air in about a billion pieces... I was kinda shocked I did not have any cracks or notice a thing after 3 different detailed inspections over the past couple of weeks. I did a full detail and it was back to looking new(except the chipping from living in Tahoe for a year)
