Brake problems...
I'm having a problem with my 96 where it seems like the ABS is engadging when it isn't supposed to. Its only at slower speeds and happens whether its raining or not.
Whenever it is raining however, sometime the brakes will actually lock up when I'm going slow. I have to try and keep rolling until they disengage and I can continue going. The ABS and Brake light also come on and stay on.
It's also worth noting that the brakes appear to be fine, because if I am going at a moderate speed and get on the brakes real hard they do stop me fine.
I searched the forums and some people who had this issue said their ABS sensor was bad. Well I took my car to Midas today and they said it was fine. Of course the ABS light wasn't on so they coudln't check the codes. They also told me to take the car to the stealership.
Any ideas what could be going wrong?? I really need to get this thing ready to sell. TIA

Take the car to real mechanics -
Like a Audi dealer or a shop that specializes in Audis
Midas is not a place to use - except maybe to install a exhuast system you bought elsewhere.

Yah...
I'm just trying to avoid spending money since I'm going to sell it. I took it to some Mechanics that specialize in Audis aroudn here before with this problem. They didn't see any issues with the brakes and just cleaned the sensors, yet I still have problems.

Have you had the front suspension apart at all recently..
if the speed sensor got knocked or repostioned some how it will cause the ABS to engage at low speeds 10-15mph and under. The sensor would just need to be reseated.

Not that I know of...
I did get winters and summer tires put on. I seem to remember this problem occuring around when I had the summers put on, but I'm not sure. Actually yes I did. The front right suspension was worked on recently, however this was after the problem was happening.

when that happens, it's usually cuz i knocked into it somehow. and pushed it in, what i do i pull..
out the abs sensor, then clean it off, slowly push it back in until it can't go in anymore, then pull it out like 1-2mm making sure the wire it on the top of the sensor. give it a try, it's not hard.
