Default Brake Question (NOT wet-braking)

Hello all,

I was driving down a steep, twisty hill at speeds between 40-60 (limit is around 30-35 I think) (please spare me the flames)... and when I was turning, I applied the brakes a little and felt a grinding sorta feeling under my foot. I had just tapped the brakes and felt this, but nothing else happened afterwards. The turn was kind of sharp (felt the bobbing/weaving w/sport susp.). Just wondering if it was ABS or if it is a brake problem or if it will be potentially. TIA.

I'm guessing it is ABS.

Default Probly ABS...

We are experiacncing this on some of the Audis. If it is what I think it is, it's an easy fix. Remove, clean, & adj. the ABS sensors. Covered under warranty.

Did it feel like the ABS? The only reason I ask is that I had a grinding feeling in my old Jeep Grand Cherokee that turned into a horrible grinding sound by the time I could get it fixed (I was away). It turned out to be a major brake overhaul that cost me about $1000. I don't remember exactly, but I think the pads were completely worn out and the result was metal on metal when I applied the brakes. I don't know what exactly your feeling, but if it feels wierd, get it checked out, its worth it.

my $0.02.

I agree with Jake. If it was grinding all the time, then your pads are worn. But if it was a temporary weird feeling of the brake pedal, then the ABS system probably cycled on you during the event.

It's not the brake pads or anything...car only has 8K+ miles. Just a split second thing.
