Brake warning light and buzzer question (yes I searched the FAQ)
I have a 2001 1.8T Tip with 40k miles. No significant problems yet, but this one thing is driving me crazy! When I drive to my radio control club's field, we have a gravel driveway going from the road, up a hill, and to the field itself (it's leased from a local farmer, but that's irrelevant). Anyway, without exception, about halfway up this gravel road hill, the brake warning buzzer (beeper?) goes off and the brake warning light flashes. I mean, it's spooky how it's always at the EXACT same spot on the hill (within a maybe 20 foot margin either way)! I've checked the pads, and they're fine (car was inspected 3 months ago and no hard driving or braking in the meantime). I'm not driving up the gravel road like a rally car driver, but is it possible small stones are somehow affecting the sensor(s)? More recently, the same warning is happening whenever the car sits overnight. Again, it seems to only happen when going uphill (but no gravel involved this time). Any suggestions?
