Broken cupholder....help please....kinda long
OK, I finally got sick of my cupholder sticking, so I eased (ok, yanked) it out of the dashboard to try to clean it. Unfortunately, a couple of pieces came loose that I can't figure out how to get back together.
There is are two pieces. One is a little cylindrical piece with nubs on each end that slides into the back of the cupholder. The other is a spring that slides around the cylindrical piece.
The spring is about a half inch wide. On the end, there are two little notches that looks like they anchor it to something. I think the spring is what gives it the tension to do the little in/out maneuver to release the lock.
What I couldn't figure out is how to attach the end of the spring to the sleeve in the dash.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

the cylindrical piece goes in the center rear with the spring around it.
The spring notch attaches to the center bottom of the opening. Look carefully, there is a thin slit of opening where the spring can grab onto.
Slide the whole assembly in slowly, while stretching the spring in the process.
