Default Buying a 1.8T Tip vs 2.8 Tip- Any Regrets Out There? (Long)

I will be purchasing an A4 in the next month or so. I discovered this site while researching the A4 (I think it's terrific, by the way). I've been following the various conversations, read the FAQ's, etc. and still have a couple of questions.

1) My wife does not drive a standard, so in the interest of domestic harmony, the Tip is my only option. I also live in Toronto and the traffic here is brutal. I've test driven the 1.8T and the 2.8, both with Tip, and must say I prefered the 1.8T due to it's low rpm torque. Has anyone out there bought the 1.8T Tip for the same reason and latter regretted it? If so, why?

2) Has anyone had any experience with Garrett's Tiptronic chip? Any experience/comments on how it may/does affect the reliability of the Tiptronic transmission?

3) I find the Sport Suspension ok but "unrefined". Any thoughts out there as to the result of replacing the sport shocks with Koni's?

Any comments would be appreciated.

I go for the 2.8 tip for smooth & quiet power and to avoid warranty headache with chipped car.

If you do an archive search on "tiptronic," you'll find plenty of tip discussion

Garrett's web page lists Motronix in Woodbridge as their reseller for eastern Canada.
