A/C problems
Hi, My father have A8 and I have an A4 95 , 2.8 quattro AAH motor, and I am having problems when I turn on A/C on the A4 I hear the clutch engage, but it only last a few seconds and it turn off by it self, and keeps doing this every 5 seconds, the a/c works fine, it cools, when it is running, but if you look at the display the start blinks when the AC clutch disengage.I friend of mine used his VAG and the codes it displayed where these:
(g68) TEMP SENSOR IN HEADLINER OPEN OR SHORT B+
(g109) AMBIENT TEMP SENSOR FRESH AIR BLOWER
(v68) TEMP REGULATOR FLAP MOTOR
(v71) AIR FLOW MOTOR
(n25) A/C CLUTCH
If some had the same problem or give me a guide where could be the problem, because in my dealer, here in Argentina is a disaster and really expensive.

i think we might have the same problem. my aircon works when the car is running, then switches off when at idle. havn't checked vag codes yet. let me know if you find solution to your problem.

I dont thinks is the same problem because mine work at idle but only when the AC wants, I thought it was low the charge and made it charge, only by the high side because it doesnt have low side, so its not low charge.

Agree with blackark. You need it serviced. You do have a low side servicing port. Lift the plastic cover above the firewall on the passenger side below the windshield. You have to pull the rubber strip off to raise the plastic cover. You will find the low pressure switch and connector in there. Remove the wire connector and the switch. The valve has a schrader valve so you won't lose any freon when removing the switch. Service with R134A at that point. If you tried to service on the high side, you only made thihgs worse and probably lost more freon.

The car received a charge, but only on the high side and they charged at 250 psi,do you mean the low side, and if thats the answer what will be the pressure? They saw that valve with a conector attached, but they didn't touch it.

PRESSURES ARE DEPENDENT ON AMBIENT TEMPERATURE. FOCUS ON THE LOW SIDE WHICH SHOULD BE BETWEEN 30 AND 45. SYSTEM HOLDS ABOUT 22 TO 23 OZ, OR ABOUT 1.40 CANS. EASY METHOD IS TO DRAIN OFF SOME OF WHAT'S LEFT IN THERE, BUT DON'T BLEED TO ZERO. THEN, SERVICE WITH A FULL CAN AND YOU SHOULD BE OKAY. KEEP THE CAN UPRIGHT. PUTTING IT IN A PAIL OF HOT WATER ALLOWS FASTER SERVICING. YOU MUST KEEP CAN PRESSURE ABOVE CAR SYSTEM PRESSURE TO FORCE FREON IN. KEEP ENGINE IDLE UP AS WELL. WHEN THE CAN IS EMPTY, IT WILL HAVE A DISTINCTIVE RING WHEN YOU TAP ON IT. GOOD LUCK.
