Can I use high temp engine paint instead of caliper paint. It's difficult to find.

I did. You won't get the super high gloss unless you use the folia tech stuff.

I used Plasti-Kote brush-on enamel...Insignia Red B13.
2 coats lasted a year and a half and three ft rotor warp'ing worth of heat.
Even holds up to weekly cleaning of full concentration - Industrial Purple Degreaser.
Nice gloss finish, Heinz 57 variety of colors, and imagine...all that for $3 a bottle.
