Cam Sensor?

Cam Sensor?
Well I just got news from the shop that my starting problems were almost 100% from a faulty cam sensor. Anyone able to help me out on what the heck this is and what a normal cost of the part or even part/labor would be? Thanks a ton

What it is: It's an optical type sensor that reads a wheel and tells the ECU where the cam is..
relative to it's rotation. It uses this to adjust spark timing, and fuel injection pulse, among other things I am sure. How much? No idea.

as far as i can determine...
it helps set the injector timing. i can see how this would give you hard starting. i think it's also called a hall sensor, don't quote me on this!! if it is it's $70 here. looks like an easy replace.

http://catalog.alloemaudiparts.com/</a
