or is it possible.cheaper to plug the block, and get an 01 valve cover?
I think that would make running the catch can plumbing so much easier.

Short answer - yes.
After my mechanic stopped making fun of me he said they use very little - just at the locations shown in the Bentley. I'm not even sure if any goes near the CCT - seems like just at changes in height or direction of the gasket give it a drop.
Didn't make sense to me intuitively (I tend to be of the 'some is good, more is better' camp) but it's held since then.

yeah I use a little on the valve cover gasket, not on the CTG
sounds like I should look at getting the PCV system sorted out before band aiding the problem.

a response.....
Don't quote me here, I'm away from my copy of the factory manual, but I thought it was 8ftlbs. You should double check it(might be a tade more). It was small enough for me to be majorly concerned about variations in accuracy of the tool used. ie, If one was using a standard 3/8 drive click type torque wrench with specs around 0-100ft lb range, 5-6% accuracy rate(being very kind here), it might over torque that housing enough to warp it or damage the metal gasket(ie crush too much).
Your local machinist should have a decent straight edge handy.

ok, searching got me part way there....
I see that ATC is a TT part. I haven't found it online yet. What is a ballpark idea pricing? I am not running the pipe to the inlet hose, so that makes things a little bit interesting. I'll have to do some more searching to see what makes sense for my catch can setup. What is cost effective and what will make sense.
