Can anyone verify that 99.5 & above model yrs have the red LED interior lighting?

Default Can anyone verify that 99.5 & above model yrs have the red LED interior lighting?
Has anyone tried to retro fit this feature into a '98 or older? I recently spent some time in an '02 330xi & '01 328Ci. Each has the dash illuminating red LED that makes finding the shifter etc. easier at night. I really got used to this & was wondering if anyone has tried to incorporate it into older Audi models?

I've seen the Tech article discussing a similar mod, but would like it to be as stock as possible. Anyone try retro fitting these parts?

Default "ambient lighting".... I've never looked closely enough at a pre 99.5
to see how hard it would be to retrofit, but definently 99.5 and above have it.

Default Paint your interrior to match exterrior... you'll never have trouble finding anything!
