Can a fender trimmed pre 99.5 place the stock 2 piece lights back?

Can a fender trimmed pre 99.5 place the stock 2 piece lights back?
Question, if you have a pre 99.5 A4 that originally had the 2 piece lights and then you did the fender trim to fit the 1 piece euro codes or the 1 piece OEM S4 xenons can you then go back and retro fit back the OEM 2 piece lights without a problem?

How do the 2 piece lights fit back ok if you trimmed of a bit from the fenders? There is no gap?

The gap isn't noticeable unless you look close...
The corner slides into the side of the headlight and locks in place. The tab doesn't really do anything, except stabilize the corner a bit. As long as you line the headlights up, it looks fine.
