Default Can you drive an A4 with no ECU? (stupid dealer story)
I sold my A4 last week and the new owner took it in for service. The dealership told him they couldn't reset the service indicator because "there's no ECU in the car"

What is that!? Is the car even driveable with no ECU? Are they complete morons?

I guess I'm going to tell him to go to another dealership. But what could it be? Are they giving him a hard time because the car was chipped?

Default no. you can't do anything with your car without an ECU...
my guess is that they tried to flash it or do some other diagnostic that the ECU refused to respond to. But that's just my guess...

Default apr says their chip doesn't show up on dealer equipment.
not sure about giac. could be their equipment can nolonger see ecu.
