Car not getting spark????
My friend took over the payments on my 99.5 A4 1.8T. The interior had to be taken apart because of a leak in the firewall. To get the carpet over the center console we had to remove the heater controls and the tape deck. While the car was off we also fixed the hole in the flex tube on the down pipe. He started the car with the exhaust removed and the check engine light came on. We shut the car off and put the exhaust back on. He then proceeded to get the check engine light to come off with the Mac Tools computer diagnostic that you plug into the car under the dash. We got the check engine light to go off but now the car just turns over but wont start. Could the anti-theft mechanism be engaged or could my key somehow have gotten deprogrammed? I am really at a loss and I am about to take it to an audi dealership and spend to much money to have it fixed. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You were right in the middle of a lot of electrical conncetions...
You might have disconnected a wire or a fuse.
Did that Mac tool give you any error codes? I don't think the key is your problem, if it was, the car wouldn't turn over.

Car started fine
We got the interior put back in with the exception of the heater controls and the tape deck. The car started fine after that. The starting problem occured after using the Mac Tool.
