car smogged after chipping,anyone?
I'm looking to get one of the performance chips, don't know which one yet as i'm not concerned about ultimate performance for my 1.8t, but i'm not sure about ultimate smogging considerations and what will happen with California smog, and this leads to the chip socket option, maybe being able to switch back might be beneficial, i've searched the forums and haven't found much, any ideas anyone ?
thanks,keith

That would be me....
Steve is referring to my car, which also has a glass pack for a resonator, and a Remus
muffler. The Wett chip was actually cleaner than the TAP Stage I chip at idle. Fewer
hydrocarbons (meaning less unburned fuel). Both chips performed well under allowable
levels. When I got my car smogged for CA, it was just after I installed the chip,
practically read zero across the board.
Corey S

Corey's A4 Page
