I'm looking to get one of the performance chips, don't know which one yet as i'm not concerned about ultimate performance for my 1.8t, but i'm not sure about ultimate smogging considerations and what will happen with California smog, and this leads to the chip socket option,maybe being able to switch back might be beneficial, i've searched the forums and haven't found much, any ideas anyone ?<br>thanks,keith

I was there when we put a Wett 1.0 bar chipped and TAP Stage I chipped car on the machine...It was well below the allowable limits on all indices. You will be fine. At least<br>IMHO.<p>Steve S.<br>97 2.8QM

Steve is referring to my car, which also has a glass pack for a resonator, and a Remus<br>muffler. The Wett chip was actually cleaner than the TAP Stage I chip at idle. Fewer<br>hydrocarbons (meaning less unburned fuel). Both chips performed well under allowable<br>levels.
