CARORDER.COM
Yes, I have a car on order.
No, it's not a scam, as others have already taken delivery.
Yes, they have pulled the A4 from their site, most likely due to the amount of orders they got generated by A4.org members, until they get the 00 prices up.
It's not a conspiracy.
As long as there are dealers charging over MSRP for popular models and playing the usual games when negotiating a price for a car and trade-in, there will be others looking to serve the population that just wants a fair price on a car without having to deal with the dealers. Maybe it'll be carOrder, maybe not, but it'll be someone.
Furthermore, any e-commerce market study will tell you that, for the near future, the general public is not ready to accept e-commerce for high dollar, non-commodity type products. Cars are not only high dollar, but for most require a tactile decision, meaning they must at least sit in the car to make the purchase decision. VERY, VERY few buy cars without first "trying them on". (The few who do buy cars this way hang out in forums like a4.org, so no flames please.)
Carorder.com subsidized my recent purchase by writing a $1800 check. I am a very satisfied customer but am skeptical about their future for many of the reasons you mention. I just don't understand why you seem to spend so much time defending the independent car dealer. IMO, time will prove you correct.

I don't mind order another car from them in the future even if the price is the same as local dealers. If they provide good and consistent service, they do have an advantage over local dealer. The problem of local dealer is that you never know what kind of service you will get from them.
I definitely wish and believe carorder.com will stay there for a long time.
