The car has 140K on it so I really can't see just welding the flange back on. Anyone had to buy an OEM cat lately? I saw the Labree HFC but I can't wait month for the to weld one up. This car needs to be back together this week.
Why does it always happen when it's winter? I'm definitely going to put heat in the garage for next year. #%$%$#

Any experience with A&B after-market cats??
What can I say - I'm getting "old" enough that a cheap HFC from Labree seems like it could be more trouble than it's worth.
My concern with welding something like that back together is the possibility that they won't be able to get it exactly right, which means that it won't ever seal right.
But cheap repair is important at this point. The car only gets about 10K a year on it and I'd like to squeeze another two years out of it and then dump it.

nope. a mig weld isn't going to be pretty nor last very long. I suggested it because you wanted it
back on the road ASAP.
If you want it to last, you need to find someone that can tig weld. And, that could be as much $ as replacing the cat.
I ran into this issue when my APR cat cracked. just to repair it correctly was getting too close the price of buying another one.
AFAIK, Fed law prohibits the sale of used cats. But, what happens in your garage, stays in your garage

welded and okay.....
My flange broke off. I welded the flange back on and that lasted me a little over a year before I finally replaced with a testpipe from eurocode tuning.

lol. thanks for the offer. I'm going to yank it out before I order anything to see just how rusty
and trashed it is. If it's a clean break then I'll get it welded but otherwise I'll do something new.
thanks for the offer!
