CD Changer Aftermarket options for A4 2000
I have researched all the posts in the archives and in the forums. I just want to confirm some things before I spend the $$$.
Those of you with the AutoToys Panasonic 6CD and 8CD changers--- Do they fit in the A4 2000 mounting bracket beneath the tool box in the trunk and accept the four mounting screws. From what I've read it sounds like the Panasonic 8CD changer does not fit, but does the Panasonic 6CD changer fit? Do these units work seemlessly with the head unit? Any problems, quirks, etc.? Would you buy the same unit again?
From what I've read, it sounds like the Clair OEM changer does fit in the bracket and does not require an adapter. Is it exactly like the stock Audi unit but without the audi badging and without the high price? Is it under a warranty by Clair, Panasonic, Audi or who?
What about the Panosonic unit advertised at http://www.stratmosphere.com/cd_changer.htm.
I presume it is the same as the AutoToys 6 CD changer. Does it fit in the bracket and accept the four mounting screw? Does it work seemlessly?
Thank you for your answers. Sorry this is so long.:}

What I did...
I used the Panasonic CX-DP610EUC 6 disk changer in my 2K 2.8 and it literally was a drop in install. It fit perfectly in the bracket. I needed a cable adapter (socket is the same, but pinout is different). Just slid it in the bracket, put in the screws, and plugged the cable in. Total Install time less than 5 minutes. It took longer to unpack the thing than it did to install it. It was so easy I was certain that I was missing something. I speculate that audi OEMs this exact changer and has panasonic re-wire to socket. I bought mine from www.crutchfield.com as they also carry the cable adapter you need for $25.

This link should take you to the item.
