Default Cheap answer is pull it off and and remove the coating with some rubbing alcohol.

The coating should come right off, and while it doesn't look as good as new it certainly looks way better than scratched and peeling.

Default The outer cover for the cig lighter, when it's closed, is doing that in mine

I stopped opening and closing the cig lighter for my radar detector. I like the feature, but a few years of use wore the crappy plastic coating off.

Default I was thinking of trying to get a used one from Shokan, but they want a part #.

I am at work so I can't rip up the dash. That peeling is annoying.

Default I did something crazy, but this is probably too late for you. I put black shoe polish on that part

that you are talking about. I had these light scratches, more like scuffs, and just wiping it down with a wet cloth didn't do much. I worked in some black shoe polish and, man, did that shine up nicely.

Default

and/or paint it again. If you have a black interior, matte black or gloss black paint looks good
