check engine light on
Please direct me to the proper topic area if I am misposting.
I'm looking at buying a 1997 A4 2.8 5speed w/ 186,000 miles. The cars drives, shifts, and looks very smooth inside and out. One problem. The check engine light is on. I had a dealer hook up the computer and read the chip. "Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction" was the only error. Sensor 2 to be specific. I have no idea what this is or how serious/expensive it is to fix.
Also, In the drivers display cluster the very center display (the large one) displays a large flashing temperature symbol. Is this the A4's way of saying it's overheating? The test drive was awesome. Engine sounded sweet but I'm a computer guy not a mechanic.
Can someone please advise? Thanks in advance!

Also, about that large flashing temp icon in the display. Is the car overheating?
Thanks for replying!
