Has anyone chipped the automatic 1.8T. Are there any problems with the transmission handling added power?????? I don't mean a 300+ HP upgrade either, at most a chip and exhaust.

Do it. No issues. The tip can take ~250hp.

I had a Garrett chip installed in my 99.5 1.8t at around 1200 miles. I've had my car for almost 14 months with absolutely no problems. My wife uses the car in auto mode only and i use the car in tip mode most of the time. I am in the process of looking at exhaust systems right now....

Your wife does not have problems with it in auto??? No over or under reving....

I chipped mine about two months ago with the Garret chip,,,at PES,,So far excellent,,I have a 1999 1.8T tiptronic, No drivability issues at all,,,,Just loads of power and torque.

no it can't, more like 220-230 hp., but be careful w/ too much torque, your biggest problem
