Default I recommend them <more>

My co-worker just got a ClearBra for his new 325i. You have to look really close to see the clear bra. It is clear and hard to detect. It is really effective for protecting the paint from rocks, bugs, etc.

The only thing my co-workers compained about was the installation. He said if he could do it over, he would have it done at one of the professional places that install it (on the website, there is a link to find nearby installation sites based on your zip code). He said it was a major PITA *** to do it. It took him nearly 2 hours.

I'm ordering it for my A4 as soon as I get George Dubya's refund in a few weeks.

Default Yes, but.... <more>

...it's not like you put it on & take it off. To put it on, you spray the solution they provide along with a squirt bottle on to where you will install it. Then you place the clearbra. Use the squigy they provide to take out any bubbles and position it. Wait for it dry. Voila. Done.
So to put it on, you are basically pasting it on.

It can be removed, but once you remove it, you gotta go get a new kit and install again. Like me before I saw it, you are probably having a hard time grasping what it's all about.

It's something you gotta see to "get" it. But like I said, I RECOMMEND it based on seeing it on my co-workers BMer and seeing the little nicks from rocks I already have on the front bummper of my 4 month old A4. If you get it, get it installed! He just re-iterated that. It's a major PITA to DIY.

Any other Q's?

Default The seams are pretty much invisible. You gotta look REALLY, REALLY close to see them.

If you didn't know the ClearBra was on, you'd never know!

As far as thickness: The material is like laminate. You know, the plastic stuff you line cabinets with. So it's thick enough to stop the average rock, bug, road soot that fly around on the highways.

Default Just put it on a new A4 - TERRIFIC

I work for 3M the makers of this material and it is great stuff. I had it installed on a 1999 Accord and my new A4 and it is great. The Accord is a dark color and the A4 is silver. The silver is darn near invisible except for the edge and the same on the Honda. I did install the bumper piece from Stongard myself and it is a project than can wear on your nerves, but if you take your time it does look really nice. Most installers in the Twin Cities i.e. P&L automotive will not do pre-cut pieces since they are a little bit more difficult to work with than a large sheet. It can be removed later but as stated the material will stretch (something to be careful if you DIY) and you will have to start with a fresh piece. I figure if this can save the front of the car it worth spending a 100 dollars every 4-5 years to replace it, if it gets really beat up. Also I should point out I have installed the light protection kit from Stongard as well and this will most likely save me from having a few broken or chipped headlamp covers. One final note, if your area where you would apply the 3M Scotchcal (the official trade name)has a lot of touch up, you want to get this area looking REALLY good before hand since all the touch up spots will be magnified!!! Good Luck
