Default Is the clockspring interchangeable between 4-spoke and 3-spoke steering wheel?

I'm trying to buy a 3-spoke steering wheel for my 98.5 A4. I currently have the ugly 4-spoke one.

The guy is now telling me that the clockspring is not included. Is this just something I can take off my 4-spoke one and put in there? Or do I need to purchase it separately?

Default you have one now.... unless yours is broken you most likely dont need a new one

the 4A0 type steering wheels use the same clockspring between 3 and 4 spoke.

I think the 4b0/8d0 type wheels use the same clockspring for sport/nonsport however only for cars with simmilar equipment.

Default Conflicting info...you sure?

You sound like you know what you're talking about, so if the 4-spoke and 3-spoke indeed use the same clockspring, I can go ahead with this purchase.

And what exactly do you mean by "similar equipment"?

The steering wheel part is

*4BO124A satin black

*48041091E

I really appreciate all your help!

Default Re: simmilar equipment... tiptronic or not... edl or not...

So, the clockspring from the 98.5 4-spoke tiptronic steering wheel will NOT work with a 98.5 3-spoke manual steering wheel?

Great...why is this so hard.

Default I think it will work

if you read what I posted carefully you will see both clocksprings reference a sport steering wheel.
