Clutch problem?
Drives great but discovered a little problem. It may be the way I'm shifting from N-1-2 but it won't take off quickly. I need to release the clutch very slowly and give it very little gas or it hesitates and I smell something like a combo of oil and pads burning. A little smoke too.
If I start from a total stop slowly it reacts fine. From 2 though the other gears no problem. I can wind in out and no problem.
The only time the issue arises is from N-1-2.
Thanks.
Usually, a sign of clutch failure is slipping.
my mechanic is going to look at it but I thought I'd bounce it off you guys first so I don't come across as a complete dumba*s when I talk with him.
I let my friend drive it soon after getting it and he tached it high and let the clutch out slow. I gasped as he did this and smelled the burning clutch. It's probably just a matter of getting to know the car.
I had an accord but got used to the audi quick since I drove many other manual trans cars. It's a heavy car with a low geared 1st. Not sure what the mechanic will tell you.
I will try your approach and see how if it improves. Thanks.
